As I readied The Iconoclast for publication, I had hoped that I would be able to have a proper book tour that would allow me to meet readers in the US, Japan, and elsewhere in person.
Unfortunately, an in-person book tour has not been possible for obvious reasons. I am, of course, grateful for the many organizations that have already hosted or will soon host virtual book talks. I reckon that I have probably spoken to more and larger audiences than might have been possible if I had to travel for talks. But I do regret not being able to speak about The Iconoclast in person.
Now, to make up for the lack of in-person book talks, I am able to offer a bonus to those who have bought the book: bookplates!
If you send an image of your book and/or a receipt, a mailing address (international addresses too!), and any requests for an inscription to tobias@observingjapan.com, I will promptly send a signed bookplate to you. This offer will remain open as long as I have bookplates to sign.
If you have not purchased a copy yet and are in the United States, consider purchasing from an independent bookseller via bookshop.org. I have been alarmed by reports about the pandemic forcing booksellers across the country to close and want to do whatever I can to help.
